A Tesla owner discovered that even when fully charged and parked without driving, the battery lost 12% of its charge in a day and a half. The power consumption was attributed to the 'sentry mode,' which can drain 7-10% of the battery when activated continuously. Additionally, enabling the 'cabin overheat protection' feature to control internal temperature by using air conditioning or fans can further increase power consumption. Other owners shared experiences of power loss due to sentry mode surveillance activities and overheating protection. Despite the power drain, many owners prefer to maintain safety and are willing to accept the additional electricity costs associated with these features.
