On June 23, 2024, Taipei police raided an underground Texas Hold'em poker casino in a commercial building in the Da'an District, confiscating a large number of chips and other evidence. The operator, a 34-year-old man surnamed Zhang, was arrested along with 23 gamblers. This raid came after the same operator was caught running a similar operation just one street away from the previous site, only 400 meters apart, following a previous police crackdown at the beginning of the month. Zhang had tried to evade the law by setting up a 'Poker Association' and organizing poker competitions as a front for illegal gambling activities.
