Texas has imposed a $9.5 million fine on Booking Holdings, the parent company of Booking.com, due to allegations of misleading pricing practices that did not clearly disclose mandatory hotel fees until later in the booking process. The settlement, announced by Attorney General Ken Paxton, is the largest of its kind in the U.S. travel industry and mandates that the company display total prices, including all fees, upfront. While Booking did not admit wrongdoing, it has committed to enhancing transparency in pricing.
