As of July 1, 2024, Thailand leads ASEAN in car production and is projected to become a major hub for electric vehicle production by 2025. Despite economic challenges affecting car sales, Thailand's car production has been steadily recovering post-COVID, with 2023 seeing a total output of 1.835 million vehicles. The country aims to achieve 30% electric vehicle production by 2030 and a complete ban on fuel vehicles by 2035, with major growth expected in the BEV market segment. Chinese and Japanese automakers dominate Thailand's car sales market, with Toyota leading the pack. By implementing supportive policies and subsidies for electric vehicles, Thailand is paving the way for an electric vehicle revolution in the ASEAN region.
