Starting from today, eight 'minor traffic offenses' such as temporary parallel parking, parking on sidewalks, and talking on the phone while riding a motorcycle will no longer be open for public reporting. The amendment to the 'Road Traffic Management Penalties Act' passed by the Legislative Yuan has led to the arrival of what netizens mock as the 'era of major traffic violations.' While certain violations can still be reported, offenses like parking temporarily on express lanes, sidewalks, and entering or exiting public facilities will now go unchecked by the public, although enforcement by police will still apply. Additionally, penalties for repeated violations have been intensified, with an increased focus on immediate point deductions rather than subsequent teaching sessions for violators.
