The First Shot Against Huang Kuo-chang! Taipei City Councilor Liu Tsai-wei Refuses Huang's Entry into Party for New Taipei City Mayor, Netizens Call for 'KMT to Follow Its Own Path'

Reported about 1 year ago

Veteran journalist Ke Ying-ching on June 12, 2024 at 2:51 AM reported that Kuomintang (KMT) Taipei City Councilor Lee Ming-hsien revealed that People First Party Legislator Huang Kuo-chang had asked him in a restroom if the KMT would consider letting him (Huang) become the mayor of New Taipei City, sparking discussions. Within the blue camp, someone took the lead in opposing Huang, with KMT Taipei City Councilor Liu Tsai-wei being the first to openly declare her willingness to be the first to oppose Huang representing the KMT in the New Taipei City mayoral election and the first to oppose Huang joining the KMT. Liu also stated that the current New Taipei City Mayor Hou You-yi has not clearly indicated his choice, making it sound more like Huang's fantasy. Liu bluntly stated that KMT supporters would not support Huang Kuo-chang, as in the past, Huang had criticized the KMT a lot during events like the Sunflower Movement and elections. Netizens have various comments on the issue and the possibility of integration between the KMT and Huang Kuo-chang, with suggestions of conducting primaries and prompt actions for fear of benefiting the Democratic Progressive Party. Some feel that even with these issues, the smaller blue parties will still stick with the bigger one, questioning if there is actual integration between the blue and white camps. Some netizens believe that Liu Tsai-wei's early stance is setting a direction, while others call for the KMT to follow its own path and not let the People First Party dictate terms.
