The Impact of Diet on Cognitive Decline

Reported 12 months ago

A new study of 181,990 participants in the U.K. shows a strong link between a varied, healthy diet and improved brain health in older adults. The study, published in Nature Mental Health, found that participants with diverse diets had better cognitive test scores, lower rates of depression and anxiety, and higher levels of grey matter. Experts recommend focusing on antioxidant-rich foods, such as berries and leafy greens, while limiting sugary and ultra-processed foods for optimal brain health. The MIND Diet, a combination of Mediterranean and DASH diets, is highlighted as beneficial for brain health and reducing Alzheimer's risk by slowing brain aging.
