Work with flexible hours for only a few hours each time, known as 'Spot Work,' is increasingly becoming a popular choice for Japanese young people at work, reflecting a shift in work values towards pursuing fulfilling personal time. Since the term 'Gig Economy' emerged in 2016, with advancements in matchmaking platforms, non-full-time work in Japan has been on the rise. The market for spot work has grown by about 30% annually over the past two years, estimated to reach approximately 82.4 billion Japanese yen last year.
