On June 29, 2024, at 8:25 AM, a truck driver in New Taipei City was targeted by thieves within 30 seconds of being away from the vehicle, resulting in the theft of their bags and losses amounting to tens of thousands of dollars. Another victim reported a similar theft in a nearby police station. The suspect, a 52-year-old man named Lin, swiftly stole cash and valuables, with incidents spanning from northern to southern Taiwan. It is advised to be cautious of leaving vehicles unlocked to prevent such thefts.
