Thief Uses Clever Trick of Taping License Plate to Steal Cables, Inner Lake Police Uncover Drug While Investigating

Reported 12 months ago

FTNN News Network, July 3, 2024, 12:12 AM - In a newly constructed warehouse in Inner Lake District, Taipei, where electrical cables were stored, frequent thefts occurred recently. The police, upon receiving reports, reviewed the surveillance cameras around the site and discovered a man surnamed Wei sneaking in during the night to steal the cables. To evade detection, Wei covered two digits of the license plate with tape on the vehicle used in the theft. Despite Wei's attempt to hide, the police located the vehicle and found drugs such as methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia during a search of his home. Wei, a 45-year-old security guard, targeted the warehouse after scouting the area and would enter through gaps in the fencing at night to steal cables, load them into his vehicle, and escape on a motorcycle after the theft. Wei even tampered with the surveillance cameras but was still recorded committing the crime. The case has been transferred for prosecution on charges of theft and drug possession.
