As the Central Weather Bureau issued a high temperature advisory for 13 cities and counties, including Taipei, New Taipei, Taichung, Changhua, Nantou, Yunlin, Chiayi City, Chiayi County, Tainan, Kaohsiung, Pingtung, Hualien, and Taitung, temperatures are expected to soar above 38 degrees, with a warning from Taiwan University atmospheric science Ph.D. Lin De-en that the hottest days are yet to come, especially in the Taipei area reaching possibly 39 degrees or higher. The public is advised to avoid unnecessary outdoor activities, stay hydrated, and prevent heat-related injuries.
