Three Chinese Companies Added to US Sanctions List for Involvement in Forced Labor in Xinjiang

Reported 7 months ago

Three Chinese companies, Dongguan Oasiss Shoes, Shandong Meijia Group, and Xinjiang Shenhuo Coal Power, have been added to the US Entity List for their alleged involvement in using and promoting forced labor of Uyghur people in Xinjiang. The US Department of Homeland Security stated that they are closely monitoring industries like seafood, aluminum products, and footwear that play important roles in Xinjiang's economy, aiming to keep products made from forced labor out of the US market. The companies have not yet issued public responses, but there are indications that they have engaged in labor transfer programs using persecuted Uyghur labor. This move is part of the US government's efforts to prevent the import of products linked to forced labor in Xinjiang.
