Three Deaths in Early Morning Fire in New Taipei City Suspected Lithium Battery Explosion

In New Taipei City's Tucheng District, a seven-story residential building caught fire in the early hours of the morning, resulting in three deaths. The fire is believed to have been caused by an explosion in a lithium battery charging in the living room. Mayor Hou Yu-yi rushed to the scene to understand and offer condolences, while detailed investigation into the cause of the fire is pending. Firefighters responded to the blaze with 136 personnel and 50 fire rescue vehicles, controlling the fire within hours. Two men in their 20s and a 50-year-old woman were found in critical condition in the building and later pronounced dead.
