Three kitchens in South Mississippi failed their recent health inspections, with two of them cited for having bugs, rodents, or animals present. The Mississippi Health Department follows the U.S. Food and Drug Administration's 2022 food code, requiring inspections for evidence of pests throughout the food preparation process and in unexpected areas. The restaurants were rated with a 'C' grade, signifying critical violations, and must display their health inspection grades. Despite some failures, the majority of kitchens in District IX passed their inspections in June.
