Three Viruses in Chaos! Doctors Urge Quick Action; Two Types of People Beware of Severe COVID-19 Symptoms

Reported about 1 year ago

As Taiwan faces the 6th wave of Omicron COVID-19 outbreak alongside an increase in enterovirus and influenza cases, hospitals are overwhelmed with patients dubbed as a 'virus brawl'. Dr. Tian Chih-hsueh, Acting Head of the Emergency & Critical Care Department at Cheng Hsin General Hospital, advises the public to wear masks and wash hands frequently to combat the spread. With a severe shortage of nursing staff in Taiwan, Dr. Tian emphasizes the importance of preventive measures to curb the infection rates. Additionally, Dr. Wu Chi-ying, a pediatrician from National Taiwan University Hospital, warns that unvaccinated individuals or those without prior COVID-19 diagnosis are more likely to experience severe symptoms, whereas vaccinated individuals may exhibit milder cold-like symptoms. Both doctors stress the need for prompt medical attention in certain cases in light of the ongoing triple-virus outbreak.
