Ticketmaster and Live Nation should be separated, DOJ will state in a new lawsuit.

Reported 5 months ago

The Department of Justice, joined by 29 states and the District of Columbia, has filed an antitrust lawsuit in New York calling for Live Nation to be broken up due to allegations of illegal monopolization in the live concert industry. The lawsuit claims Live Nation has used its power to stifle competition, exploit relationships with venue companies like Oak View Group, and threaten venues working with rival companies. Lawmakers, including Amy Klobuchar and Elizabeth Warren, have voiced support for breaking up Live Nation, citing concerns about high ticket prices, fees, and lack of competition. Live Nation has denied the allegations, stating that the suit ignores the realities of the live entertainment market and would not address the issues fans care about.
