TikTok has implemented new regulations to restrict the visibility of accounts linked to state-affiliated media on its platform.

Reported 6 months ago

TikTok has implemented new rules to restrict the reach of state-affiliated media accounts aiming to influence global audiences, particularly during important election periods. The platform will now prevent these accounts from appearing on users' main feeds and limit their ability to advertise outside their home countries. This decision follows concerns over foreign propaganda spreading on various social media platforms like TikTok, Facebook, Instagram, and X, with TikTok specifically under scrutiny for its ties to China's government. TikTok plans to provide regular updates on its efforts to combat covert influence operations on its platform, having already disrupted 15 such operations in the first four months of the year.
