Tiny New York City College to Merge With Northeastern University

Reported 4 months ago

Marymount Manhattan College, a small private college in New York City with about 1,400 students, has agreed to merge with Northeastern University in Boston, marking Northeastern's 14th campus. Through this deal, Northeastern will absorb all of Marymount Manhattan's assets and liabilities, including its valuable Manhattan real estate. The merger aims to help Marymount Manhattan avoid closure amid declining enrollment and economic challenges faced by smaller institutions in higher education. Current and admitted Marymount Manhattan students will transition to Northeastern and continue their studies without incurring tuition or fee hikes.
