The Tokyo governor election in Japan is set to be announced on June 20th, with voting on July 7th. While 58-year-old Senator Renho from the Constitutional Democratic Party announced her candidacy early, the 71-year-old two-term Tokyo governor Koike Yuriko had not officially declared her participation until now. However, according to reports from Kyodo News, sources reveal Koike will announce her candidacy on the last day of the Tokyo Metropolitan Assembly on the 12th. If approved by the Operations Committee on the 11th, she will make her announcement during the assembly. So far, 40 individuals have declared their candidacy for the election.
