Taiwan's Ministry of Health and Welfare's Department of Statistics has released the 2023 data on causes of death among Taiwanese nationals, reporting a decrease in total deaths from the previous year. Cancer remained the leading cause of death for the 42nd year, with respiratory diseases, diabetes, and cardiovascular diseases following. Notably, the number of deaths due to COVID-19 decreased significantly compared to the previous year. Measures to combat cancer, liver diseases, and preventable causes of death are being emphasized by health authorities.
