Top Bank of Cyprus Investors Consider Selling Stake

Reported 10 months ago

Two top investors at Bank of Cyprus Holdings Plc, CarVal Investors and Caius Capital, are exploring the sale of their combined 15% stake in the bank, valued at about £233 million. Potential buyers, including Greece’s Alpha Bank SA, are being approached. Any sale could potentially lead to further consolidation in the European financial industry. Bank of Cyprus, Alpha Bank, and the investors declined to comment. The European Central Bank recently approved Greek banks to pay dividends for the first time in 16 years.
