On June 28, 2024, heavy rainfall escalated across Taiwan, with the Central Weather Bureau issuing a heavy rain warning for 10 counties and cities, including areas in New Taipei City where flooding occurred. Videos shared on social media showed yellow mud-infused rainwater continuously flowing into homes, leading to interior flooding. Local residents rushed to block the water with wooden boards to prevent further inundation. The sudden heavy rain even led to mudslides, despite the area experiencing flooding just 5 days prior.
