On June 29, 2024, at around 7:00 pm in Alishan National Forest Recreation Area in Chiayi County, a tour bus accident occurred where the bus, suspected of not engaging the handbrake, slid backward on a slope in a parking lot and hit a mother and daughter. The mother suffered a right leg bone fracture, while the daughter sustained minor injuries. Both were promptly taken to the hospital for treatment. The precise cause of the accident is still under investigation.
