As the Dragon Boat Festival approaches, the Tourism Bureau released the latest hotel accommodation occupancy rates across various counties and cities in Taiwan, revealing that 16 counties and cities have occupancy rates below 50%. Hualien, severely affected by earthquakes, is at a mere 12.07%. Despite this, the overall average occupancy rate in Taiwan two days before the holiday period was 45.15%. The Bureau attributed the lower confidence in Hualien tourism to recent aftershocks and incomplete transportation services, but is hopeful that promotional efforts and collaborative events will help rebuild trust and gradually increase the booking rates.
