On June 9, 2024, at around noon, a 63-year-old man surnamed Hsu fell from Bitan Suspension Bridge into Bitan Lake in New Taipei City's Xindian District for unknown reasons. Emergency services arrived and after a 2-hour search, the man was rescued with no signs of life. He was taken to the hospital for emergency treatment but was pronounced dead. The cause of the fall is still under investigation by the police. This incident serves as a reminder for seeking help is not a sign of weakness, and there are various hotlines available for support.
