Toyota's Bestselling SUV in China Plummets in Sales, Drops Prices Significantly

Reported about 1 year ago

Toyota's midsize SUV Highlander, which was the first in mainland China to break the million mark in sales, has seen a sharp decline in popularity recently despite dropping prices by up to 80,000 RMB (around 357,000 NTD). This model, once considered a premium car with waiting lists and price surges, has struggled to attract buyers due to rising competition in the Chinese market from new energy vehicles and changing consumer demands. Sales figures indicate a significant drop in China, with a projected 30% decrease from its peak in 2019.
