Toyota develops new generation of combustion engines, avoiding electric cars

Reported 4 months ago

Toyota, along with Mazda and Subaru, introduced prototype internal combustion engines designed to be smaller, more efficient, and capable of using eco-friendly fuels like hydrogen. The engines are meant to work with battery-powered electric motors in future hybrid and plug-in cars. Toyota's focus on hybrids over electric vehicles has led to record profits, with sales mainly coming from hybrids and plug-in hybrids. While Toyota plans to develop more electric vehicles, its current strategy emphasizes alternatives to reduce CO2 emissions beyond just EVs.
