Bailey Anne Kennedy, a trans Asian American, made history by winning the Miss Maryland competition, becoming the first trans woman to do so. Kennedy, also a military spouse, will now compete in the Miss USA pageant in August. Despite not everyone agreeing with her win, Kennedy shared a message on social media encouraging self-acceptance. She hopes her journey will inspire LGBTQ youth to be themselves without fear and make positive contributions to society.
