Trans-Pacific Container Rates Plummet as Tariff Deadline Approaches

Reported about 9 hours ago

Trans-Pacific ocean container rates are significantly decreasing as the seasonal lull and the conclusion of frontloading by importers coincide with rising tariffs on imports to the U.S. Rates dropped 18% for Asia-U.S. West Coast and 21% for Asia-U.S. East Coast, with prices now around $3,000 and $4,000 per FEU, respectively. Experts warn that the frontloading could dampen demand during peak season, and inflation driven by tariffs might further reduce ocean freight demand in the latter half of the year.
