During a power outage on June 18, 2024, in Taichung's Longjing District, a Taiwan Power Company employee suffered second-degree burns on his face and neck after a transformer exploded when he accidentally touched it with a long rod during maintenance. The incident, suspected to be caused by a short circuit in the transformer's circuit, led to the insulation oil spraying and burning the worker. He was hospitalized in stable condition, with investigations ongoing to determine the exact cause and ensure safety protocols were followed.
