Chong Tzu-hsien, Vice Convener of the National Climate Change Commission, reiterated the need to adjust Taiwan's energy policy to incorporate both nuclear and green energy in order to boost non-carbon electricity generation and break free from the negative carbon footprint, cautioning that persisting with the 'non-nuclear homeland' slogan could lead Taiwan into high costs, low resilience, air pollution, and even severe environmental damage, potentially resulting in a future decline. Chong emphasized the importance of a balanced energy mix and collaboration between green and nuclear energy to tackle Taiwan's carbon emission issues.
