Transport Minister's Whereabouts Unknown, Legislator Furious: 'Should We Post a Missing Person Notice'

Reported 12 months ago

During a review of the amendment opinions of the 'Railway Act' by the Legislative Yuan's Transportation Committee on July 3, Transport Minister Li Meng-yan was absent due to disaster inspection in Hualien. Lawmaker Fu Kun-chi questioned the minister's whereabouts, noting that no one from the deputy minister to the Taiwan Railways chairman knew his schedule, prompting him to sarcastically suggest posting a missing person notice. Despite the trip being over, the committee still announced his absence and was attended by the deputy minister. The exchange raised concerns about the minister's undisclosed whereabouts and the management of critical transportation issues by the ministry.
