FTNN News Network reported on June 25, 2024, at 5:20 a.m. that the Ministry of Finance announced the adjustment of the 'Regulations on Customs Duties for Items Carried by Inbound Travelers.' The duty-free allowance for luggage brought back from overseas has been increased from 20,000 to 35,000 yuan, starting officially on the 26th. The adjustment was made after over 30 years without change, considering inflation and increased consumer spending. However, individuals engaging in obvious profit-making activities or frequently traveling (2 times in 30 days or 6 times in 6 months) with a record of violations are not eligible for the above provision. In addition, if the luggage stored by inbound travelers falls under anti-money laundering regulations, they can electronically transmit the declaration information to customs and complete the declaration process at the customs service counter upon entry or exit.
