At the 2024 International Conference on Healthcare for the Elderly and Aging Companion Animals hosted by the College of Healthcare, Hongguang University of Science and Technology, Taiwan, trends in pet ownership and consumer behavior were discussed. The analysis by Assistant Professor Hou Zhiyuan revealed a nearly 4% growth in cat ownership among pet owners in the past 3 years, particularly in Taipei where the percentage reached 57% in 2023, possibly influenced by high housing prices. Additionally, there has been an increase in pet owners considering switching pet grooming shops due to rising prices, emphasizing the need for the pet industry to develop sales strategies based on these trends.
