In New Taipei City's Xinzhuang District, a conflict erupted on June 8th due to a truck illegally parking and blocking the path of a 64-year-old man surnamed Wen on a motorcycle who was trying to leave after purchasing goods at a betel nut stand. The altercation escalated from a verbal argument to a physical confrontation, where the truck driver, a 31-year-old surnamed Xu, took out a baseball bat and attacked Wen, causing head and hand injuries. Both parties reached a settlement afterwards, with Xu fined for illegal parking and sent for further investigation under the Social Order Maintenance Act. Authorities advise the public to remain calm and adhere to traffic rules when resolving disputes to avoid violent behaviors and ensure pedestrian and motorcyclist safety.
