Truck drivers are taking legal action to prevent the implementation of New York's congestion charge for drivers in Manhattan.

Reported 4 months ago

The trucking industry, represented by the Trucking Association of New York, has filed a federal lawsuit against the Metropolitan Transportation Authority to block New York's congestion fee for driving into Manhattan. The lawsuit argues that the fees unfairly target and penalize the trucking industry with higher costs, which would ultimately lead to price increases on goods. The trucking association suggests revisions to exempt the industry from the fee, limit tolls to once a day, or toll trucks at the same rate as passenger vehicles. The congestion fee plan is set to launch on June 30, with multiple lawsuits seeking to block it.
