In a recent interview, Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump stated that he now plans to let Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell finish his term if elected, contrary to his previous promise of immediate removal. He also warned the Fed against lowering interest rates before the November election. Trump mentioned considering Jamie Dimon, CEO of JPMorgan Chase, for the position of the Treasury Secretary. Despite past criticisms, Trump is contemplating a potential role for Dimon in his administration, as reported by Bloomberg Businessweek in an interview conducted late June.
