President Lai Ching-te announced the establishment of three major committees at the Presidential Palace, with himself as the convener. However, Executive Xiao Xucen of the Ma Ying-jeou Foundation criticized Lai for adopting a '40% presidential system.' Xiao pointed out that previous presidents set up consultative committees, usually without direct involvement, unlike Lai who has taken a more hands-on approach with policy-making authority. This move by Lai has raised concerns about the power dynamics within the government.
