TSMC's Land Change Approval for Expansion of Kaohsiung Plant to Include Third 2nm Fab

The Kaohsiung City Government has approved the land change for TSMC's third 2nm fab, indicating progress in TSMC's Kaohsiung plant expansion and further stimulating the local economy. The city government plans to transform the former oil refinery site into a semiconductor material R&D core, establishing the Southern Science Park Kaohsiung Third Park (Nanzi Park) to focus on circular technology, material R&D, and advanced semiconductor industries. TSMC's third fab, covering 17.22 hectares, aims to meet the urgent expansion needs in response to global semiconductor supply chain transformation and demand, with estimated employment for 1,000 individuals and a total employment boost of around 4,500 people in the Nanzi Park area.
