On July 2, 2024, at 1:20 am, a flight from Madrid to Uruguay operated by Air Europa was forced to make an emergency landing in Brazil due to severe turbulence, resulting in 30 injured passengers. The Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft experienced the turbulence, causing unsecured passengers to hit the ceiling and sustain injuries. The injured passengers are currently receiving treatment at Natal Airport in Brazil. The airline has dispatched another plane to transport the passengers to their destination.
