Two Car Fires in 3 Days! Hazard Caused by Items Placed Near Tires in Garage

Reported 9 months ago

Within three days, two car fires occurred in Dalin, Taichung. In one case, a car owner parked their car in their own garage and placed aerosol spray and mineral water near the tires, causing a reflection effect from the light which ignited the aerosol spray and led to the car catching fire. Local officials warn drivers not to store items prone to self-ignition inside cars, especially in hot weather. Items such as reading glasses, mineral water, mosquito repellent or air fresheners, and lighters when exposed to sunlight for an extended time may pose a fire hazard, emphasizing the importance of checking for such items in cars exposed to sunlight during hot weather.
