The 35th Golden Melody Awards took place at Taipei Arena on June 29, 2024. Popular Chinese singers Jude and Xu Jun were nominated for Best Male Singer in Mandarin but had to cancel their attendance last minute. Jude cited personal reasons for his absence through his music label, while Xu Jun mentioned work-related matters. The Ministry of Culture explained that 26 individuals from China were approved to attend the awards ceremony, but some had to cancel due to personal work schedules. Jude's team of 8 members arrived in Taiwan in phases but had to leave abruptly before the ceremony due to Jude's health issues post his continuous schedule in China.
