An industrial plating factory in Yilan's Dongshan Township experienced an explosion when a carbon dioxide high-pressure cylinder exploded during the heating and drying process, injuring two workers with shards. One worker remains hospitalized while the other, the 48-year-old responsible person surnamed Zhu, suffered a 10 cm tear and burn injury to his hand and is also hospitalized. The factory, not specialized in manufacturing cylinders, was handling a cylinder used as a life jacket. Investigation is ongoing to determine the exact cause of the explosion and to prevent future accidents. Workplace safety authorities may fine the employer up to 300,000 NT dollars if violations are found.
