On July 1, 2024, at 11:30 am, a three-story townhouse in Sanchong, New Taipei City caught fire, with the blaze suspected to have originated in a room on the second floor. Two individuals were trapped inside and tragically lost their lives. The mother of one of them managed to escape with her dog, but collapsed upon hearing the news, eventually being saved by emergency medical treatment. The swift response of over a hundred firefighters helped contain the fire within half an hour. The incident involved a family who had been renting the townhouse for over 10 years, with the daughter on the third floor being rescued and saved after emergency treatment. Thankfully, the fire occurred during a public holiday, preventing further casualties.
