Two Mainland Chinese Executives Abducted in the Philippines Suspected to Fall into “Trap of Deception” Even After Paying Millions in Ransom

Reported 12 months ago

According to various Chinese media reports, two executives from Mainland China's medical equipment companies were kidnapped and killed in the Philippines during a business trip. The victims were identified as senior management personnel from different medical device companies, with one being the International Marketing Director of Suzhou Rumeide, a Hong Kong-listed company, and the other being a distributor of cardiovascular medical devices. The incident is suspected to be a case of deception as the victims had met what they believed to be a Philippine business agent at a European industry conference prior to their trip. Despite the families paying a ransom of 3 million RMB (about 13.46 million NTD), the perpetrators did not release the victims. Chinese Embassy in the Philippines has urged the swift arrest of the culprits. This incident follows previous kidnappings involving mainland and Malaysian tourists in Manila, prompting the Chinese embassy to advise heightened safety awareness for Chinese citizens in the country.
