A recent survey conducted by the system development company Raisondetre in Shinjuku ward revealed that among 4,000 married individuals aged 20 to 59, 43.9% admitted to having a sexless marriage and 24.3% described it as mildly sexless. This indicates a trend towards sexless marriages among 68.2% of the married couples in Japan. The study also found that younger age groups, especially women between 20-29 and 30-39, showed higher percentages of sexless marriages, with a significant increase in complete sexless states among both genders. Despite the importance of intimacy in relationships, a majority of those with sexless tendencies still rated their marital relationships as 'good or relatively good,' suggesting that lack of sexual activity doesn't necessarily equate to a bad relationship.
