Typhoon Season Approaching: New Forecast Shows Lower Number of Typhoons Expected in Second Half of the Year

Reported about 1 year ago

As the summer season and typhoon season begin, meteorologist Hsin Hsing Chia predicts a lower number of typhoons, approximately 17 to 21, compared to the long-term average of 19 to 23.4. Favorable conditions for typhoon formation are expected to establish from mid-July, peaking after July 21 and lasting until mid-August. Despite brief sporadic showers in various regions till Thursday, the influence of a strengthening Pacific high-pressure system will significantly reduce afternoon thunderstorms all over Taiwan from Friday onwards, with only sporadic showers in mountainous areas until next Thursday.
