A former UBS bond strategist, Trevor Murray, faced a setback when the 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals overturned a jury verdict that awarded him damages after his whistleblowing led to his termination. The court found that jury instructions during the trial allowed jurors to wrongly conclude that his whistleblowing was a direct cause of his firing, rather than merely an influence. This ruling means UBS is not required to pay the awarded damages, despite a previous Supreme Court ruling that favored Murray's case.
