Before UFC 302, the former middleweight champion Sean Strickland heavily criticized the new UFC gloves, but after his split decision win against Paulo Costa, he had a change of heart, stating that they are fine. Other UFC 302 winners also shared a sense of apathy towards the gloves, with many not seeing the purpose behind them.
