UK court rules aircraft disputes to be heard in Ukraine, not in London

Reported 6 months ago

The UK High Court has decided that a legal battle between insurers and aircraft leasing companies concerning jets stranded in Ukraine due to Russia's invasion should be heard in Ukraine, not London. Judge Andrew Henshaw ruled in favor of exclusive jurisdiction clauses, stating that the cases in London should be put on hold, as disputes are required to be heard in Ukraine. Despite arguments from claimants citing difficulties in conducting litigation due to the war in Ukraine, Henshaw's ruling emphasized that the evidence does not show substantial delays or issues in litigating the claims effectively in Ukrainian courts.
